What is a floating solar charging station?
The SolarChargingStation delivers clean, solar-powered electricity to boats on the water—reducing emissions and enabling sustainable boating.
Equipped with a 100 kWh energy storage unit, a high-efficiency solar system, and 8 shore power connections, this floating station can supply emission-free onboard power to boats both at harbor and on inland waterways.
The 360° glass-enclosed lounge area can be configured as a harbor office, rental station, or overnight accommodation—and rented out to boaters and water tourists.

Eligible for up to 80% funding by the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), the floating charging station supports the development of a nationwide infrastructure for electric recreational boating.
Funding applications can be submitted free of charge by businesses in the water tourism sector, including boat rental services, boating schools, marina owners, and pier operators.
Each SolarChargingStation is built at the SolarYacht shipyard in Brandenburg, Germany.

Germany’s water tourism strategy calls for a significant reduction in waterborne emissions and promotes the rollout of a modular, floating charging infrastructure for sport and leisure boats to support electric mobility.
The first floating charging stations were inaugurated together with the Federal Ministry in summer 2024 and publicly presented in Berlin-Brandenburg.
